At the recent NCLA conference held in Greenville, North Carolina on October 6-9, 2009,
the Sandhill Regional Library System was awarded 3 first place Public Relations awards. Below are pictures of SRLS Staff accepting the awards at the conference!

The Sandhill Regional Library System has been awarded a
Collection Development Grant for $20,000 with a $5,000 match and a $20,000 Planning Grant for the Moore County Library.
These grants were applied for from LSTA (The Library Services and Technology Act).
SRLS applied to the State Library of NC and was notified in June 2009
of the awards for the 2009-2010 Fiscal Year.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has provided the Sandhill Regional Library System with a grant to purchase new computers for all 15 libraries in our region.

Every library will get new computers for public access. Please keep checking your library as new computers are being scheduled to be installed in the coming weeks!!

County & Regional Library Board of Trustees Annual Workshop at Sandhills Community College

SRLS annually works with both regional and local boards putting together a day of learning and sharing so that we can all be better advocates of Libraries. The recent Board of Trustees workshop was held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 in the Boyd Library at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC. Below are pictures from the recent workshop.

The theme at the recent SRLS Board of Trustees Workshop was You Can Grow Your Own Library! SRLS wanted to show how libraries are expected to more with less money. Phoebe Medlin, Director of Hampton B. Allen Library in Anson County and Sheila Evans, Director of Hoke County Library created decorations for the workshop.

Jesse Gibson, Director of Richmond County Libraries, presented a display on how libraries in Richmond County collaborate to create programs that are needed by their customers.

Stephen Zibrat, Director of Moore County Libraries, presented a display on how his county works with SRLS to apply for grants to are beneficial to library customers in his county.
