County & Regional Library Board of Trustees Annual Workshop at Sandhills Community College
SRLS annually works with both regional and local boards putting together a day of learning and sharing so that we can all be better advocates of Libraries. The recent Board of Trustees workshop was held on Saturday, January 19, 2008 in the Boyd Library at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC. Below are pictures from the recent workshop.

Displays at SRLS Board of Trustees Workshop!

The theme at the recent SRLS Board of Trustees Workshop was Colloborate and Celebrate! SRLS wanted to show show we collaborate as a staff and celebrate. Each SRLS Staff member did a presentation on what they contribute to SRLS.

Bonita Collins. SRLS Director of Technical Services, presented a display on Erate and the application process. SRLS has received $837,514 in funds and discounts since the Erate program began in 1998. Erate gives discounts to public libraries based on the free lunch data for
the county the library is located in.

Phoebe Medlin, Director of Hampton B. Allen Library in Anson County, presented a display on how the Hampton B. Allen Library collaborated with SRLS to get a LSTA Outreach Services grant to purchase a new bookmobile for the library. The grant was awarded in June 2007 and the bookmobile will be delivered to Anson County in a few weeks.

Jesse Gibson, Director of Richmond County Libraries, presented a display on how libraries in Richmond County interacts with SRLS. These interactions included Friends of the Library, Technical Services, redesigning the Leath Library and the value of services provided by SRLS to Richmond County Libraries.

Stephen Zibrat, Director of Moore County Libraries, presented a display on the mentoring he has received since joining the SRLS Staff in July 2007,
Collection development, NCLA,
and Book Reviews.

David Atkins, Manager of Montgomery County Libraries, presented a display on the recent LSTA Planning Grant the Troy Library was awarded. The grant amount was $15,000 and will be used to work with a consultant to redesign the Troy Library.

SRLS Staff Workshops are held on Fridays of every week. The next workshop series will
begin in May 2008. Workshops are taught by staff members.

from many different sources.
